Planting Calendar

Stop guessing when to start seeds. Get a practical, data-driven schedule tailored to your local climate and USDA zone.

Methodology & Limitations

This calendar calculates dates based on your local last spring frost and first fall frost. When you enter a ZIP code, we query the PHZM API (which maps to the official USDA Plant Hardiness Zone dataset) to find your hardiness zone, and apply a broad, historical frost-date estimate for that zone.

These dates are broad estimates. Frost dates can vary significantly within a single ZIP code due to elevation changes, microclimates, and urban heat islands. A valley might experience frost two weeks later than a hillside just a mile away.

Always check your local 10-day weather forecast before moving sensitive crops outdoors. If a late frost is predicted, hold off on transplanting or be prepared to cover your plants.
