Conditions planning

Outdoor Comfort Planner

Score the likely thermal comfort of entered conditions for an activity; it does not provide weather data or a forecast.

Enter your project details and calculate for a practical planning estimate.

How this estimate works

  • The calculator uses NOAA wind chill in cold, windy conditions and the NOAA heat-index regression in hot, humid conditions; otherwise it starts with air temperature.
  • A stated sun exposure and activity adjustment are added, then distance from a 68°F reference and high-humidity penalty produce a 0–100 planning score.

Before you begin

  • Sun and activity adjustments are intentionally simple heuristics, not physiological measurements. Clothing, acclimatization, hydration, age, health, clouds, and radiant surfaces matter.
  • This tool does not measure weather, UV, air quality, lightning, or heat illness risk and should not replace official alerts or medical advice.
