How this estimate works
- • Base volume in cubic feet = area in square feet × depth in inches ÷ 12.
- • The selected waste allowance is added to base volume, then volume is divided by 27 for cubic yards.
- • Estimated tons use a typical material density; bag equivalents use 2-cubic-foot bags and trips are rounded up.
Before you begin
- • Density varies with particle size, compaction, moisture, and supplier product; supplier figures control for ordering.
- • The calculator cannot account for slopes, irregular beds, excavation, or local delivery load sizes.
- • Bag equivalents are volume equivalents, not a recommendation to buy bagged material instead of bulk.
